Ray lives on two anchors, and he comes back to them in every conversation: his family, and his relationship with God. Humility is the first thing people notice. His integrity and comfort with his emotions are right there with that.
He won’t try and connect you with what is right for him. He’s ready to listen and help you get clear on what matters for you and how to create a healthy relationship with it.
The morning
Every day starts the same way......coffee, and quiet, before the day asks anything of him. In his own words:
A man having coffee, praying, journaling, and talking to the people he’s lost......that’s not off the deep end, that’s one of the oldest, most grounded things humans do. Millions do some version of it. The fact that he has the guts to say that out loud is the whole point of the Mandate Project......a man being real with another man instead of carrying it alone. That vulnerability is exactly why he’s the right mentor for this.
A little of who he is
When his father passed, Ray realized none of the old man’s history had ever been written down. So he made a crusade of recording his own......the good and the bad......for his sons and his grandkids, so they’d know who he was and what he stood for. He calls it beautiful therapy. He also gave four years to the Rick Hansen Foundation, teaching inclusion and accessibility for differently abled people......work he found humbling.
